So, you don’t want to gamble and would rather do a triathlon in Nevada. Vegas will miss you (though we’ve got a race recommendation here for you).
Utah offers stunning national parks, world-class skiing, and vibrant cultural events, making it a top destination for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers. But, most of all, Utah is magical for swimming, biking and running.
Ironman 70.3 St. George

Rage Triathlon
Las Vegas has a subtropical hot desert climate, typical of the Mojave Desert in which it lies. The warm transitional seasons makes the Rage Tri the perfect Spring triathlon destination in the US. Triathlon clubs from across the region gather here to launch the multisport race season early. Rage has been recognized by Nevada triathletes as the “must-do” event to open their triathlon season.
The bike course is hilly, with the majority occurring on a section of Lakeshore Dr. that is located entirely within the national recreation area. The Olympic distance run will journey past the lush Boulder Beach campground, and turn onto the River Mountain Loop Trail. This course makes Rage one of the most scenic desert landscape triathlons in the region.
Sand Hollow Triathlon
The pristine waters and red sandstone create a unique racing atmosphere at Sand Hollow State Park. This venue is known for its scenic landscape and ideal water temp in June.
This epic southern Utah race is a local’s favorite. Sand Hollow offers an Olympic & Sprint Distance Triathlon, Sprint Duathlon and Olympic Aquabike.
Lake Tahoe Triathlon
The Lake Tahoe Triathlon takes place annually at Ed’ZBerg Sugar Pine State Park, located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. Sugar Pine is one of Tahoe’s most unique lakeside properties, featuring the historic Hellman-Ehrman Mansion, tall pines, a beautiful pier, well-maintained grounds, and stunning beaches.
We are listing this as one of our Top-10 races in Nevada & Utah because it pulls from a lot of Reno triathletes.

It’s time for an unforgettable weekend with fun for the whole family! Minutes away from Bryce Canyon, and Zion National park, Sand Hollow reservoir is a turquoise oasis engulfed in the sandstone mountain ranges in which it is surrounded. Palm Springs Triathlon
We’ve raced this triathlon a few times and almost every podium winner is from Vegas. So, we just had to add this race at Lake Cahuilla Park in La Quinta. The Coachella Velley is a stunning venue and a Post-Race dinner in Palm Springs or Palm Desert is magical.
Pumpkinman Triathlon
Wear a costume in this race and you may get a 10 minute head start.
The weekend before Halloween, participate in the scariest race of the season, PUMPKINMAN. This point-to-point race starts at Lake Mead and finishes at Wilbur Square in Boulder City. Your legs will work hard on the bike, but you will be rewarded with an incredible view once you reach the top.
